Our school Nursery provides a warm, nurturing and engaging start to children’s learning, placing children at the centre of everything we do.

Play is central to our approach. When children play, they explore, imagine and begin to develop characteristics of effecting learning such as curiosity, resilience and confidence. We adapt our planning to follow children’s interests, helping them stay motivated, engaged and excited to learn.

We want every child to be curious, independent and ready for Reception. We give them time to play, discover and make sense of the world so they develop a genuine love of learning and have the best possible start to school life.

At Bellfield Primary School, we believe that when children feel secure and valued, they thrive. Our Nursery is the first step in helping them belong, believe and achieve.

We offer high quality provision (term time only), facilitating 15 hour and 30 hours government funded places* . There is also the added option of additional top up at £25 per half day or £50 for a full day. We also offer breakfast club for Nursery aged children starting from 7:30 am (cost XXX) and after school club (cost £15).

Learning in Nursery

In Nursery, we feel it is extremely important to lay the right foundations for your child to succeed in their education. We do this by making play the foundations for how we teach our children in EYFS. Children will learn through different topics every half term. These topics have been carefully chosen as they are interesting to our children and also allow them to gain important knowledge to help them in Reception. Our learning environment, is carefully considered to allow children to acquire the necessary knowledge but also to develop important life-long skills.

It is also important we get to know our parents and their families. A familiar member of staff will greet you and your child every day, we will share your child's progress through Tapestry, Class Dojo and parents evenings. Below are some photos and some frequently asked questions to help you get a flavour of what our Nursery is like.

Nursery

What hours are available?

All children aged 3 - 4 are eligible for a 15 funded hour place. For 30 hours, funded this will depend on parents eligibility. This can be checked here; https://www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator. We do provide additional top-up for an additional fee.

For 15 hour children we will either offer mornings only or two and a half days, Monday - Wednesday lunchtime, or Wednesday morning - Friday lunchtime.

What if my child still needs toilet training?

We understand that parents may have only just started toilet training, we will support you with this and offer personal care for your child. We change children every 3 hours or sooner if needed all we ask is that you provide nappies/pull ups and wet wipes. Any creams to be administered need to also be bought by yourselves.

What if my child has Special Educational Needs?

All of our staff at Bellfield Primary School are able to support children with a range of needs and we pride ourselves on including all children. Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators Mrs Priddon and Mrs Topping will be able to help you and your child if further advice is needed. They may refer you to get specialist support or someone may visit your child in school. We have excellent relationships with external professionals who we have worked with for many years.

We are also fortunate to have our own Speech and Language Therapist in school who will be able to see your child, support staff and give you advice at home.

What will my child eat for lunch?

For children in Nursery they will need to either bring in a packed lunch or a school meal can be paid for. School meals cost XXX and can be selected for and paid for on Parent Pay.
